Roanoke City has a long history of destroying neighborhoods to satisfy the development desires of our local politicians and their cronies. Gainsboro is just one sad example and there are more.
While we can’t undo what has been done, we can stop it in its tracks and start protecting the neighborhoods we have now.
The key to a healthy local economy is thriving business and increased opportunity. We have seen too many businesses leave Roanoke. Many of them were large employers who took good jobs to other cities.
I will be a voice for the financial health of families in Roanoke by being an advocate for policies that make people want to do business and create good jobs in our beautiful city.
We all want the best for our children and that means that improving our local schools should be a top priority. Students are best served by having schools prepare them academically for future success.
We should be focused on providing a safe environment where valuable learning can be the priority of both teachers and students. Our children’s success depends on us making that happen.
A safe community can prosper in ways we haven’t seen in Roanoke for a long time. Our local headlines say Roanoke City has seen an enormous rise in crime and that includes violent crime.
Roanoke City Council has ignored real solutions in favor of their radical agenda. We should be instituting polices that make us safer and help victims.
Rising prices and jobs leaving Roanoke have made the financial situation for many Roanoke families unlivable. What did our current city council do in response? It raised taxes. When asked, council members told us, “we need more money to spend”.
I will fight to roll back tax increases and be a consistent vote for protecting Roanoke’s citizens from tax abuse.
Government is most effective and efficient when it does its work fully in the public eye. Roanoke city’s politicians seem to think they have a right to operate in secret.
Citizens have a right to know what their government is doing at all times and I will advocate for removing the cloak that our local politicians have been hiding behind.
Roanoke City Council and most of this year’s candidates don’t agree with us, but I’m with the citizens of Roanoke who are all telling me they do not want the new zoning scheme to be implemented.
